The Evidence – Research and Commentaries

In this section you will find more detailed information about the research behind PACT as well as evaluations, commentaries and testimonials from both experts in the field and experts by experience – parents!

National institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) Guidelines are developed by experts to make best practice recommendations for health care based on the available evidence. The most recent guidelines for autism intervention are contained in Guideline 170 (2013). http://www.nice.org.uk/guidance/cg170 PACT therapy is considered to be a psychosocial intervention that meets the described recommendations, as extracted below.

The National Autism Project aimed to identify and advocate for effective, evidence based interventions. Its report, The Autism Dividend 2017, promotes PACT therapy as an example of such an intervention (Appendix B, Case Studies: Early Interventions. p 56)

Research Outreach describe themselves as ‘a communication agency specialising in research’. They worked with the PACT research teams to help them communicate the findings of their research to a wider audience. This article provides a summary of the PACT trials and contains links to the original peer-reviewed journal articles.

IMPACT is a community interest company established by members of the PACT trial team to provide training and certification for professionals in PACT therapy. IMPACT has developed an Information for Parents leaflet and a promotional video which includes testimonies from parents who have undertaken the PACT programme.
